Theodore Norvell
Head Fencing Coach
Theodore Norvell has been fencing since 1976, competitively and recreationally, in Halifax, Toronto, Oxford, Vancouver, and St. John's. He was overall provincial men's champion in Nova Scotia in 1985, taking first place in both epée and sabre, while completing an undergraduate degree. Theodore competed extensively in the OUAA league, where he trained under the legendary Maitre Ken Wood. He captained the University of Toronto foil team to three gold and two silver medals in five years, while medalling individually in foil four times and earning one and a half graduate degrees. After retiring from competitive fencing he was assistant coach at the University of Toronto and earned the other half of that degree. He is an NCCP certified fencing coach and a CFF certified referee. In 2002 he co-founded the Memorial University Fencing Club, where he is currently the head coach.

Paul Gillard
Fencing Coach
Paul Gillard has been fencing for the past 5 years as a member of the MUN
fencing club. He also coaches squash with the CBS Wallbangers club, and has
completed several coaching courses, including level 1 theory, and squash
level 1 and 2 technical.
